ข้อความไทยนี้คือ พระไตรปิฎกภาษาไทย ฉบับหลวง ซึ่งแปลจากพระไตรปิฎกบาลีคนละฉบับกับบาลีที่แสดงอยู่ด้านล่าง จึงไม่ได้เรียงตรงกันบรรทัดต่อบรรทัด — อ่านเป็นสำนวนแปลอิสระอีกฉบับหนึ่ง
ข้อ ๑๙๑ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลคนเดียว เมื่อเกิดขึ้นในโลก ย่อมเกิดขึ้นเพื่อไม่เป็น ประโยชน์เกื้อกูล ไม่เป็นความสุขแก่ชนเป็นอันมาก เพื่อความฉิบหาย มิใช่ประโยชน์เกื้อกูล
เพื่อความทุกข์แก่เทพยดาและมนุษย์ทั้งหลายบุคคลคนเดียวคือใคร คือ บุคคลผู้เป็นมิจฉาทิฐิ มีความเห็นวิปริต เขาทำให้คนเป็นอันมากออกจากสัทธรรมแล้ว ให้ตั้งอยู่ในอสัทธรรม ดูกร ภิกษุทั้งหลายบุคคลคนเดียวนี้แล เมื่อเกิดขึ้นในโลก ย่อมเกิดขึ้นเพื่อไม่เป็นประโยชน์เกื้อกูล ไม่เป็นความสุขแก่ชนเป็นอันมาก เพื่อความฉิบหาย มิใช่ประโยชน์เกื้อกูล เพื่อความทุกข์ แก่เทพยดาและมนุษย์ทั้งหลาย ฯ
ข้อ ๑๙๒ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลคนเดียว เมื่อเกิดขึ้นในโลก ย่อมเกิดขึ้นเพื่อเป็น ประโยชน์เกื้อกูล เพื่อความสุขแก่ชนเป็นอันมาก เพื่อประโยชน์หิตสุขแก่เทพยดาและมนุษย์ ทั้งหลาย บุคคลคนเดียวคือใคร คือบุคคลผู้เป็นสัมมาทิฐิ มีความเห็นไม่วิปริต เขาทำให้คน เป็นอันมากออกจากอสัทธรรมแล้ว ให้ตั้งอยู่ในสัทธรรม ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลคนเดียวนี้แล เมื่อเกิดขึ้นในโลก ย่อมเกิดขึ้นเพื่อเป็นประโยชน์เกื้อกูล เพื่อความสุขแก่ชนเป็นอันมาก เพื่อ ประโยชน์หิตสุขแก่เทพยดาและมนุษย์ทั้งหลาย ฯ
ข้อ ๑๙๓ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราไม่เล็งเห็นธรรมอย่างอื่นแม้ข้อหนึ่ง ซึ่งจะมีโทษมาก เหมือนมิจฉาทิฐินี้เลย ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย โทษทั้งหลายมีมิจฉาทิฐิเป็นอย่างยิ่ง ฯ
ข้อ ๑๙๔ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราไม่เล็งเห็นบุคคลอื่นแม้คนเดียว ที่ปฏิบัติเพื่อไม่เป็น ประโยชน์เกื้อกูล ไม่เป็นความสุขแก่ชนเป็นอันมาก เพื่อความฉิบหายมิใช่ประโยชน์เกื้อกูล เพื่อความทุกข์แก่เทพยดาและมนุษย์ทั้งหลาย เหมือนกับโมฆบุรุษชื่อว่ามักขลินี้เลย ดูกรภิกษุทั้ง หลาย เปรียบเหมือนบุคคลพึงทิ้งลอบไปที่ปากอ่าว เพื่อไม่เป็นประโยชน์เกื้อกูล เพื่อความทุกข์ เพื่อความเสื่อม ความพินาศแก่ปลาเป็นมาก แม้ฉันใด โมฆบุรุษชื่อว่ามักขลิก็ฉันนั้นเหมือน
เล่ม ๒๐ · หน้า ๓๖กันแลเป็นดังลอบสำหรับดักมนุษย์ เกิดขึ้นแล้วในโลก เพื่อมิใช่ประโยชน์เกื้อกูล เพื่อความ ทุกข์ เพื่อความเสื่อม เพื่อความพินาศแก่สัตว์เป็นอันมาก ฯ
ข้อ ๑๙๕ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ผู้ที่ชักชวนเข้าในธรรมวินัยที่กล่าวไว้ชั่ว ๑ ผู้ที่ถูกชักชวน แล้วปฏิบัติเพื่อความเป็นอย่างนั้น ๑ คนทั้งหมดนั้น ย่อมประสบกรรมมิใช่บุญเป็นอันมาก ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุไร เพราะธรรมท่านกล่าวไว้ชั่ว ฯ
ข้อ ๑๙๖ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ผู้ที่ชักชวนเข้าในธรรมวินัยที่กล่าวไว้ดี ๑ ผู้ที่ถูกชักชวนแล้ว ปฏิบัติเพื่อความเป็นอย่างนั้น ๑ คนทั้งหมดนั้น ย่อมประสบบุญเป็นอันมาก ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุไร
เพราะธรรมท่านกล่าวไว้ดีแล้ว ฯ
ข้อ ๑๙๗ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ทายกพึงรู้จักประมาณในธรรมวินัยที่กล่าวไว้ชั่ว ปฏิคาหก ไม่จำต้องรู้จักประมาณ ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุไร เพราะธรรมท่านกล่าวไว้ชั่ว ฯ
ข้อ ๑๙๘ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ปฏิคาหกพึงรู้จักประมาณในธรรมวินัยที่กล่าวไว้ดี ทายกไม่ จำต้องรู้จักประมาณ ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุไร เพราะธรรมท่านกล่าวไว้ดีแล้ว ฯ
ข้อ ๑๙๙ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ผู้ที่ปรารภความเพียรในธรรมวินัยที่กล่าวไว้ชั่วย่อมอยู่เป็น ทุกข์ ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุไร เพราะธรรมท่านกล่าวไว้ชั่ว ฯ
ข้อ ๒๐๐ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ผู้เกียจคร้านในธรรมวินัยที่กล่าวไว้ดี ย่อมอยู่เป็นทุกข์ ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุไร เพราะธรรมท่านกล่าวไว้ดีแล้ว ฯ
ข้อ ๒๐๑ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ผู้ที่เกียจคร้านในธรรมวินัยที่กล่าวไว้ชั่วย่อมอยู่เป็นสุข
ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุไร เพราะธรรมท่านกล่าวไว้ชั่ว ฯ
ข้อ ๒๐๒ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ผู้ปรารภความเพียรในธรรมวินัยที่กล่าวไว้ดีย่อมอยู่เป็นสุข ข้อนั้นเพราะเหตุไร เพราะธรรมท่านกล่าวไว้ดีแล้ว ฯ
ข้อ ๒๐๓ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เปรียบเหมือนคูถแม้เพียงเล็กน้อย ก็มีกลิ่นเหม็น ฉันใด ภพแม้เพียงเล็กน้อยก็ฉันนั้นเหมือนกัน เราไม่สรรเสริญโดยที่สุดแม้ชั่วกาลเพียงลัดนิ้วมือเดียว เลย ฯ
ข้อ ๒๐๔ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เปรียบเหมือนมูตร… น้ำลาย… หนอง…เลือดแม้เพียง เล็กน้อย ก็มีกลิ่นเหม็น แม้ฉันใด ภพแม้เพียงเล็กน้อยก็ฉันนั้นเหมือนกัน เราไม่สรรเสริญ โดยที่สุดแม้ชั่วกาลเพียงลัดนิ้วมือเดียวเลย ฯ

“Ekapuggalo, bhikkhave, loke uppajjamāno uppajjati bahujanaahitāya bahujanaasukhāya, bahuno janassa anatthāya ahitāya dukkhāya devamanussānaṁ.
“One individual, mendicants, arises in the world for the detriment and unhappiness of the people, against the people, for the harm, detriment, and suffering of gods and humans.

Katamo ekapuggalo?
What one individual?
- 1.3
Micchādiṭṭhiko hoti viparītadassano.
Someone with wrong view, whose perspective is distorted.
- 1.4
So bahujanaṁ saddhammā vuṭṭhāpetvā asaddhamme patiṭṭhāpeti.
They draw many people away from the true teaching and establish them in false teachings.
- 1.5
Ayaṁ kho, bhikkhave, ekapuggalo loke uppajjamāno uppajjati bahujanaahitāya bahujanaasukhāya, bahuno janassa anatthāya ahitāya dukkhāya devamanussānan”ti.
This is one individual who arises in the world for the detriment and unhappiness of the people, against the people, for the harm, detriment, and suffering of gods and humans.”

“Nāhaṁ, bhikkhave, aññaṁ ekadhammampi samanupassāmi yaṁ evaṁ mahāsāvajjaṁ yathayidaṁ, bhikkhave, micchādiṭṭhi.
“Mendicants, I do not see a single thing that is so very blameworthy as wrong view.
- 1.2
Micchādiṭṭhiparamāni, bhikkhave, mahāsāvajjānī”ti.
Wrong view is the most blameworthy thing of all.”

“Nāhaṁ, bhikkhave, aññaṁ ekapuggalampi samanupassāmi yo evaṁ bahujanaahitāya paṭipanno bahujanaasukhāya, bahuno janassa anatthāya ahitāya dukkhāya devamanussānaṁ yathayidaṁ, bhikkhave, makkhali moghapuriso.
“Mendicants, I do not see a single other individual who acts for the detriment and unhappiness of the people, against the people, for the harm, detriment, and suffering of gods and humans, as that futile man, the bamboo-staffed ascetic.

Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, nadīmukhe khippaṁ uḍḍeyya bahūnaṁ macchānaṁ ahitāya dukkhāya anayāya byasanāya;
Just as a trap set at the mouth of a river would bring harm, suffering, calamity, and disaster for many fish,
- 1.3
evamevaṁ kho, bhikkhave, makkhali moghapuriso manussakhippaṁ maññe loke uppanno bahūnaṁ sattānaṁ ahitāya dukkhāya anayāya byasanāyā”ti.
so too that futile man, the bamboo-staffed ascetic, is a trap for humans, it seems to me. He has arisen in the world for the harm, suffering, calamity, and disaster of many beings.”

“Durakkhāte, bhikkhave, dhammavinaye yo ca samādapeti yañca samādapeti yo ca samādapito tathattāya paṭipajjati sabbe te bahuṁ apuññaṁ pasavanti.
“Mendicants, the one who encourages someone in a poorly explained teaching and training, the one who they encourage, and the one who practices accordingly all brim with much wickedness.

Why is that?

Durakkhātattā, bhikkhave, dhammassā”ti.
Because the teaching is poorly explained.”

“Mendicants, the one who encourages someone in a well explained teaching and training, the one who they encourage, and the one who practices accordingly all brim with much merit.

Why is that?

Svākkhātattā, bhikkhave, dhammassā”ti.
Because the teaching is well explained.”

“Mendicants, in a poorly explained teaching and training, the donor should know moderation, not the recipient.

Durakkhātattā, bhikkhave, dhammassā”ti.
Because the teaching is poorly explained.”
