เล่ม ๒๐ · หน้า ๑๐๐๑๐. ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลผู้ประกอบด้วยธรรม ๓ ประการ ไม่ละมลทิน ๓ ประการ จะต้องถูกเก็บไว้ในนรก เหมือนถูกขังฉะนั้น ธรรม ๓ประการเป็นไฉน คือ เป็นผู้ทุศีล และไม่ละมลทินแห่งความเป็นผู้ทุศีล ๑ เป็นผู้ริษยา และไม่ละมลทินแห่งความ ริษยา ๑ เป็นผู้ตระหนี่ และไม่ละมลทินแห่งความตระหนี่ ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลประกอบ ด้วยธรรม ๓ ประการนี้แล ไม่ละมลทิน ๓ ประการนี้ จะต้องตกนรก เหมือนถูกนำไปฝังไว้ ฉะนั้น ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลประกอบด้วยธรรม ๓ ประการ ละมลทิน ๓ ประการเสีย ย่อมจะประดิษฐานบนสวรรค์ เหมือนถูกนำเอามาวางไว้ ฉะนั้น ธรรม ๓ ประการเป็นไฉน คือ เป็นผู้มีศีล และละมลทินแห่งความเป็นผู้ทุศีล ๑ เป็นผู้ไม่ริษยาและละมลทินแห่งความริษยา ๑ เป็นผู้ไม่ตระหนี่ และละมลทินแห่งความตระหนี่๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลผู้ประกอบด้วย ธรรม ๓ ประการนี้ และละมลทิน ๓ ประการนี้แล ย่อมจะต้องได้ขึ้นสวรรค์ เหมือนกับเชิญไป วางไว้ ฉะนั้น ฯ

“Tīhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato tayo male appahāya yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye.
“Anyone who has three qualities, and has not given up three stains, is placed in hell as if delivered there.

What three?

Dussīlo ca hoti, dussīlyamalañcassa appahīnaṁ hoti;
They’re unethical, and haven’t given up the stain of immorality.

issukī ca hoti, issāmalañcassa appahīnaṁ hoti;
They’re jealous, and haven’t given up the stain of jealousy.

maccharī ca hoti, maccheramalañcassa appahīnaṁ hoti.
They’re stingy, and haven’t given up the stain of stinginess.

Imehi kho, bhikkhave, tīhi dhammehi samannāgato ime tayo male appahāya yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye.
Anyone who possesses these three qualities, and has not given up these three stains, is placed in hell as if delivered there.
