Dutiyaiddhipādasutta

The Buddha developed the bases for psychic power, which lead to his awakening.

ข้อ ๖๘ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เมื่อก่อนแต่ตรัสรู้ เราเป็นพระโพธิสัตว์ ยังไม่ได้ตรัสรู้ ได้เจริญ ทำให้มากซึ่งธรรม ๕ ประการ ธรรม ๕ ประการเป็นไฉนคือ เราได้เจริญอิทธิบาท ที่ประกอบด้วยฉันทสมาธิและปธานสังขาร ๑ ได้เจริญอิทธิบาทที่ประกอบด้วยวิริยสมาธิและปธาน สังขาร ๑ ได้เจริญอิทธิบาทที่ประกอบด้วยจิตตสมาธิและปธานสังขาร ๑ ได้เจริญอิทธิบาทที่ ประกอบด้วยวิมังสาสมาธิและปธานสังขาร ๑ ได้เจริญวิริยะอย่างยิ่งเป็นที่ ๕ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เพราะได้เจริญ ทำให้มากซึ่งธรรมมีวิริยะอย่างยิ่งเป็นที่ ๕ นี้ เราได้โน้มน้อมจิตไปเพื่อทำให้แจ้ง ด้วยปัญญาอันยิ่ง ซึ่งธรรมที่จะพึงทำให้แจ้งด้วยปัญญาอันยิ่งใดๆ เมื่อเหตุมีอยู่ เราถึงความเป็น ผู้ควรเป็นพยานได้ในธรรมนั้นๆ โดยแน่นอน ถ้าเราหวังก็พึงแสดงฤทธิ์ได้หลายประการ คือ คนเดียวเป็นหลายคนก็ได้ ฯลฯ ใช้อำนาจทางกายไปตลอดพรหมโลกก็ได้ เมื่อเหตุมีอยู่ เราถึงความ เป็นผู้ควรเป็นพยานในธรรมนั้นๆ ได้โดยแน่นอน ฯลฯ ถ้าเราหวัง ก็พึงทำให้แจ้งซึ่งเจโตวิมุติ

    “Pubbevāhaṁ, bhikkhave, sambodhā anabhisambuddho bodhisattova samāno pañca dhamme bhāvesiṁ, pañca dhamme bahulīkāsiṁ.

    “Mendicants, before my awakening—when I was still not awake but intent on awakening—I developed and cultivated five things.

    So kho ahaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ ussoḷhipañcamānaṁ dhammānaṁ bhāvitattā bahulīkatattā yassa yassa abhiññāsacchikaraṇīyassa dhammassa cittaṁ abhininnāmesiṁ abhiññāsacchikiriyāya,

    When I had developed and cultivated these five things, with vigor as fifth,

    tatra tatreva sakkhibhabbataṁ pāpuṇiṁ sati sati āyatane.

    I extended the mind to realize by insight each and every thing that can be realized by insight; and I was capable of realizing those things, since each and every one was within range.

    So sace ākaṅkhiṁ: ‘anekavihitaṁ iddhividhaṁ paccanubhaveyyaṁ …pe… yāva brahmalokāpi kāyena vasaṁ vatteyyan’ti,

    If I wished: ‘May I multiply myself and become one again … controlling the body as far as the realm of divinity.’

    tatra tatreva sakkhibhabbataṁ pāpuṇiṁ sati sati āyatane.

    I was capable of realizing it, since each and every one is within range.

  15. 3.1

    So sace ākaṅkhiṁ …pe… ‘āsavānaṁ khayā anāsavaṁ cetovimuttiṁ paññāvimuttiṁ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṁ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja vihareyyan’ti,

    If I wished: … ‘May I realize the undefiled freedom of heart and freedom by wisdom, and live having realized it with my own insight in this very life due to the ending of defilements.’
