Saṁyogasutta

By focusing on their own gendered attributes, a man or woman becomes attached to them and develops lust for the opposite sex.

ฉบับหลวงสังโยคสูตร

ข้อ ๔๘ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราจักแสดงธรรมบรรยายอันเป็นสังโยคะทั้งวิสังโยคะแก่เธอ ทั้งหลาย เธอทั้งหลายจงฟัง จงใส่ใจให้ดี เราจักกล่าว ภิกษุเหล่านั้นทูลรับพระผู้มีพระภาคแล้ว พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสว่า ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลายก็ธรรมบรรยายอันเป็นสังโยคะทั้งวิสังโยคะเป็นไฉน

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ก็หญิงย่อมสนใจสภาพแห่งหญิงในภายใน กิริยา ท่าทาง ความไว้ตัว ความ พอใจเสียง และเครื่องประดับของหญิง เขาย่อมยินดี พอใจ ในสภาพของตนนั้นๆเขายินดี พอใจในสภาพของตนนั้นๆ แล้ว ย่อมสนใจถึงสภาพของชายในภายนอก กิริยา ท่าทาง ความ ไว้ตัว ความพอใจ เสียง และเครื่องประดับของชาย ย่อมยินดี พอใจในสภาพของชายนั้นๆ เขายินดี พอใจในสภาพของชายนั้นๆ แล้ว ย่อมมุ่งหวังการสมาคมกับชาย และสุขโสมนัสที่ เกิดเพราะการสมาคมกับชายเป็นเหตุ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย สัตว์ผู้พอใจในภาวะแห่งหญิงก็ถึงความ

ชายย่อมสนใจสภาพแห่งชายในภายใน กิริยา ท่าทางความไว้ตัว ความพอใจ เสียงและ เครื่องประดับของชาย เขาย่อมยินดี พอใจในสภาพของตน เขายินดีพอใจในสภาพของตนนั้นๆ แล้ว ย่อมสนใจถึงสภาพของหญิงในภายนอก กิริยา ท่าทาง ความไว้ตัว ความพอใจ เสียง

และเครื่องประดับของหญิง ย่อมยินดี พอใจในสภาพของหญิงนั้นๆ แล้วย่อมมุ่งหวังการสมาคม กับหญิง และสุขโสมนัสที่เกิดเพราะการสมาคมกับหญิงเป็นเหตุ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย สัตว์ผู้พอใจ ในภาวะแห่งชายก็ถึงความเกี่ยวข้องในหญิง ด้วยอาการอย่างนี้แล ชายจึงไม่ล่วงพ้นภาวะแห่งชาย ไปได้ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ความเกี่ยวข้องย่อมมีด้วยอาการอย่างนี้แล ฯ

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ส่วนความไม่เกี่ยวข้องเป็นอย่างไร ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย หญิงย่อม ไม่สนใจในสภาพของหญิงในภายใน กิริยา ท่าทาง ความไว้ตัว ความพอใจ เสียงและ เครื่องประดับของหญิง เขาไม่ยินดี ไม่พอใจในสภาพแห่งหญิงย่อมไม่สนใจถึงสภาพแห่งชาย ในภายนอก กิริยา ท่าทาง ความไว้ตัว ความพอใจ เสียงและเครื่องประดับแห่งชาย

เขาไม่ยินดี ไม่พอใจในสภาพแห่งชายนั้นๆ แล้ว ย่อมไม่มุ่งหวังการสมาคมกับชายในภายนอก และสุขโสมนัสที่เกิดเพราะการสมาคมกับชาย ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย สัตว์ผู้ไม่พอใจในสภาพแห่ง หญิงก็ถึงความไม่เกี่ยวข้องในชาย ด้วยอาการอย่างนี้แล หญิงจึงล่วงพ้นสภาพแห่งหญิงไปได้ ฯ

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ชายย่อมไม่สนใจในสภาพแห่งชาย กิริยา ท่าทางความไว้ตัว ความพอใจ เสียงและเครื่องประดับของชาย เขาไม่ยินดี ไม่พอใจในสภาพแห่งชายนั้นๆ แล้ว ย่อมไม่สนใจถึงสภาพแห่งหญิงในภายนอก กิริยาท่าทาง ความไว้ตัว ความพอใจ เสียงและ เครื่องประดับของหญิง เขาไม่ยินดีไม่พอใจในสภาพแห่งหญิงนั้นๆ แล้ว ย่อมไม่มุ่งหวังการ สมาคมกับหญิงในภายนอก และสุขโสมนัสที่เกิดเพราะการสมาคมนั้นเป็นเหตุ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย สัตว์ผู้ไม่พอใจในสภาพแห่งชาย ก็ถึงความไม่เกี่ยวข้องในหญิง ด้วยอาการอย่างนี้แล ชายจึง ล่วงพ้นภาวะแห่งชายไปได้ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ความไม่เกี่ยวข้องย่อมมีด้วยอาการอย่างนี้แล

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย นี้แลชื่อว่าธรรมบรรยายอันเป็นทั้งสังโยคะและวิสังโยคะ ฯ

    “Saṁyogavisaṁyogaṁ vo, bhikkhave, dhammapariyāyaṁ desessāmi.

    “Mendicants, I will teach you an exposition of the teaching on yoking and unyoking.

    Listen and apply your mind well, I will speak. …

    katamo ca so, bhikkhave, saṁyogo visaṁyogo dhammapariyāyo?

    And what is the exposition of the teaching on yoking and unyoking?

    Itthī, bhikkhave, ajjhattaṁ itthindriyaṁ manasi karoti—

    A woman focuses on her own femininity:

    itthikuttaṁ itthākappaṁ itthividhaṁ itthicchandaṁ itthissaraṁ itthālaṅkāraṁ.

    her feminine moves, feminine appearance, feminine ways, feminine desires, feminine voice, and feminine adornment.

    Sā tattha rajjati tatrābhiramati.

    She’s stimulated by this and takes pleasure in it.

  10. 2.4

    Sā tattha rattā tatrābhiratā bahiddhā purisindriyaṁ manasi karoti—

    So she focuses on the masculinity of others:

    purisakuttaṁ purisākappaṁ purisavidhaṁ purisacchandaṁ purisassaraṁ purisālaṅkāraṁ.

    masculine moves, masculine appearance, masculine ways, masculine desires, masculine voice, and masculine adornment.

    Sā tattha rajjati tatrābhiramati.

    She’s stimulated by this and takes pleasure in it.

  13. 2.7

    Sā tattha rattā tatrābhiratā bahiddhā saṁyogaṁ ākaṅkhati.

    So she desires to yoke herself to another.

  14. 2.8

    Yañcassā saṁyogapaccayā uppajjati sukhaṁ somanassaṁ tañca ākaṅkhati.

    And she desires the pleasure and happiness that comes from such yoking.

  15. 2.9

    Itthatte, bhikkhave, abhiratā sattā purisesu saṁyogaṁ gatā.

    Sentient beings who relish their femininity are yoked to men.

  16. 2.10

    Evaṁ kho, bhikkhave, itthī itthattaṁ nātivattati.

    This is how a woman does not transcend her femininity.

  17. 3.1

    Puriso, bhikkhave, ajjhattaṁ purisindriyaṁ manasi karoti—

    A man focuses on his own masculinity:

    purisakuttaṁ purisākappaṁ purisavidhaṁ purisacchandaṁ purisassaraṁ purisālaṅkāraṁ.

    his masculine moves, masculine appearance, masculine ways, masculine desires, masculine voice, and masculine adornment.

    So tattha rajjati tatrābhiramati.

    He’s stimulated by this and takes pleasure in it.

  20. 3.4

    So tattha ratto tatrābhirato bahiddhā itthindriyaṁ manasi karoti—

    So he focuses on the femininity of others:

    Evaṁ kho, bhikkhave, saṁyogo hoti.

    This is how yoking comes about.

    Kathañca, bhikkhave, visaṁyogo hoti?

    And how does unyoking come about?

  29. 4.2

    Itthī, bhikkhave, ajjhattaṁ itthindriyaṁ na manasi karoti—

    A woman doesn’t focus on her own femininity:

    itthikuttaṁ itthākappaṁ itthividhaṁ itthicchandaṁ itthissaraṁ itthālaṅkāraṁ.
