Dutiyahāliddikānisutta
The householder Hāliddakāni approaches the Venerable Mahākaccāna in the Avanti country and asks how to understand a passage on liberation from “The Questions of Sakka” (see MN 37 and DN 21). Mahākaccāna explains it in terms of freedom from attachment to the aggregates.

ข้าพเจ้าได้สดับมาแล้วอย่างนี้:
สมัยหนึ่ง ท่านพระมหากัจจานะอยู่ ณ ภูเขาชันข้างหนึ่ง ใกล้เมืองกุรรฆรนคร แคว้นอวันตีรัฐ. ครั้งนั้นแล คฤหบดีชื่อว่าหลิททิกานิเข้าไปหาท่านพระมหากัจจานะถึงที่อยู่ อภิวาทแล้ว นั่งอยู่ ณ ที่ควรข้างหนึ่งแล้ว ได้ถามท่านพระมหากัจจานะว่า ข้าแต่ท่านผู้เจริญ พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสพระภาษิตนี้ในสักกปัญหาว่า สมณพราหมณ์เหล่าใด หลุดพ้นแล้ว เพราะความสิ้นไปแห่งตัณหา สมณพราหมณ์เหล่านั้นเป็นผู้สำเร็จล่วงส่วน เป็นผู้มีความเกษมจากโยคธรรมล่วงส่วน เป็นพรหมจารีบุคคลล่วงส่วน มีที่สุดล่วงส่วน เป็นผู้ประเสริฐสุดกว่าเทวดาและมนุษย์ทั้งหลายดังนี้. ข้าแต่ท่านผู้เจริญ เนื้อความแห่งพระพุทธพจน์ที่พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสโดยย่อนี้ จะพึงเห็นได้โดยพิสดารอย่างไร.?
พระมหากัจจานะได้กล่าวว่า ดูกรคฤหบดี ความพอใจ ความกำหนัด ความเพลิดเพลิน ความทะยานอยาก ความเข้าถึง ความยึดมั่น อันเป็นที่ตั้งที่อยู่อาศัยแห่งจิตเหล่าใด ในรูปธาตุจิต ท่านกล่าวว่าพ้นดีแล้ว เพราะความสิ้น เพราะความคลายกำหนัด เพราะความดับ เพราะความสละ เพราะความสละคืนซึ่งความพอใจเป็นต้นเหล่านั้น, ดูกรคฤหบดี ความพอใจ ความกำหนัด ความเพลิดเพลิน ความทะยานอยาก ความเข้าถึง ความยึดมั่น อันเป็นที่ตั้งที่อยู่อาศัยแห่งจิตเหล่าใด ในเวทนาธาตุ … ในสัญญาธาตุ … ในสังขารธาตุ … ในวิญญาณธาตุจิต ท่านกล่าวว่าพ้นดีแล้ว เพราะความสิ้น เพราะความคลายกำหนัด เพราะความดับ เพราะความสละ เพราะความสละคืนซึ่งความพอใจเป็นต้นเหล่านั้น. ดูกรคฤหบดี พระภาษิตที่พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสในสักกปัญหาว่าสมณพราหมณ์เหล่าใดพ้นแล้ว เพราะความสิ้นไปแห่งตัณหา สมณพราหมณ์เหล่านั้นเป็นผู้สำเร็จล่วงส่วน มีความเกษมจากโยคธรรมล่วงส่วน เป็นพรหมจารีบุคคลล่วงส่วน มีที่สุดล่วงส่วน เป็นผู้ประเสริฐสุดกว่าเทวดาและมนุษย์ทั้งหลายดังนี้. ดูกรคฤหบดี เนื้อความแห่งพระพุทธพจน์ที่พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสโดยย่อนี้แล พึงเห็นได้โดยพิสดารอย่างนี้ ด้วยประการฉะนี้แล.

So I have heard.

ekaṁ samayaṁ āyasmā mahākaccāno avantīsu viharati kuraraghare papāte pabbate.
At one time Venerable Mahākaccāna was staying in the land of the Avantis near Kuraraghara on Steep Mountain.

Atha kho hāliddikāni gahapati yenāyasmā mahākaccāno …pe… ekamantaṁ nisinno kho hāliddikāni gahapati āyasmantaṁ mahākaccānaṁ etadavoca:
Then the householder Hāliddikāni went up to Venerable Mahākaccāna … and asked him,

“vuttamidaṁ, bhante, bhagavatā sakkapañhe:
“Sir, this was said by the Buddha in ‘The Questions of Sakka’:

‘ye te samaṇabrāhmaṇā taṇhāsaṅkhayavimuttā, te accantaniṭṭhā accantayogakkhemino accantabrahmacārino accantapariyosānā seṭṭhā devamanussānan’ti.
‘Those ascetics and brahmins who are freed due to the ending of craving have reached the ultimate goal, the ultimate sanctuary from the yoke, the ultimate spiritual life, the ultimate end, and are best among gods and humans.’

“Rūpadhātuyā kho, gahapati, yo chando yo rāgo yā nandī yā taṇhā ye upayupādānā cetaso adhiṭṭhānābhinivesānusayā, tesaṁ khayā virāgā nirodhā cāgā paṭinissaggā ‘cittaṁ suvimuttanti’ vuccati.
“Householder, consider any desire, greed, relishing, and craving for the form element; any attraction, grasping, mental fixation, insistence, and underlying tendencies. With the ending, fading away, cessation, giving away, and letting go of that, the mind is said to be ‘well freed’.
