พระนครสาวัตถี ฯลฯ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เราจักแสดงขันธ์ ๕ และอุปาทานขันธ์ ๕ เธอทั้งหลายจงฟัง. ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ก็ขันธ์ ๕ เป็นไฉน? ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย รูปอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง เป็นอดีต อนาคต และปัจจุบัน เป็นภายในหรือภายนอก หยาบหรือละเอียด เลวหรือประณีต อยู่ในที่ไกลหรือใกล้. นี้เรียกว่า รูปขันธ์. เวทนาอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง ฯลฯ สัญญาอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง ฯลฯ สังขารเหล่าใดเหล่าหนึ่ง ฯลฯ วิญญาณอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง เป็นอดีต อนาคต และปัจจุบัน เป็นภายในหรือภายนอก หยาบหรือละเอียด เลวหรือประณีต อยู่ในที่ไกลหรือใกล้. นี้เรียกว่า วิญญาณขันธ์. ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เหล่านี้เรียกว่า ขันธ์ ๕.

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ก็อุปาทานขันธ์ ๕ เป็นไฉน? ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย รูปอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง เป็นอดีต อนาคต ปัจจุบัน เป็นภายในหรือภายนอก หยาบหรือละเอียด เลวหรือประณีต อยู่ในที่ไกลหรือใกล้ เป็นไปกับด้วยอาสวะ เป็นปัจจัยแก่อุปาทาน. นี้เรียกว่า อุปาทานขันธ์คือรูป. เวทนาอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง ฯลฯ สัญญาอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง ฯลฯ สังขารเหล่าใดเหล่าหนึ่ง ฯลฯ วิญญาณอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่งเป็นอดีต อนาคต ปัจจุบัน เป็นภายในหรือภายนอก หยาบหรือละเอียด เลวหรือประณีต อยู่ในที่ไกลหรือใกล้ เป็นไปกับด้วยอาสวะ เป็นปัจจัยแก่อุปาทาน. นี้เรียกว่า. อุปาทานขันธ์คือวิญญาณ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เหล่านี้เรียกว่า อุปาทานขันธ์ ๕.

    Any kind of form at all—past, future, or present; internal or external; solid or subtle; inferior or superior; far or near: this is called the aggregate of form.

    Any kind of consciousness at all—past, future, or present; internal or external; solid or subtle; inferior or superior; far or near: this is called the aggregate of consciousness.
