ฉบับหลวงเอสนาสูตรที่ ๑ · การแสวงหา ๓
ข้อความไทยนี้คือ พระไตรปิฎกภาษาไทย ฉบับหลวง ซึ่งแปลจากพระไตรปิฎกบาลีคนละฉบับกับบาลีที่แสดงอยู่ด้านล่าง จึงไม่ได้เรียงตรงกันบรรทัดต่อบรรทัด — อ่านเป็นสำนวนแปลอิสระอีกฉบับหนึ่ง
สาวัตถีนิทาน. ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย การแสวงหา ๓ อย่างนี้ ๓ อย่างเป็นไฉน? คือ การแสวงหากาม ๑ การแสวงหาภพ ๑ การแสวงหาพรหมจรรย์ ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย การแสวงหา ๓ อย่างนี้แล.
ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุควรเจริญอริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ เพื่อความรู้ยิ่งซึ่งการแสวงหา ๓ อย่างนี้แล อริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ เป็นไฉน? ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุในธรรมวินัยนี้ย่อมเจริญสัมมาทิฏฐิอันอาศัยวิเวก อาศัยวิราคะ อาศัยนิโรธ น้อมไปในการสละ ฯลฯ ย่อมเจริญสัมมาสมาธิ อันอาศัยวิเวก อาศัยวิราคะ อาศัยนิโรธ น้อมไปในการสละ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุควรเจริญอริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ นี้ เพื่อรู้ยิ่งด้วยการแสวงหา ๓ อย่างนี้แล.

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุควรเจริญอริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ เพื่อรู้ยิ่งซึ่งการแสวงหา ๓ อย่างนี้แล อริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ เป็นไฉน? ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุในธรรมวินัยนี้ย่อมเจริญสัมมาทิฏฐิ มีอันกำจัดราคะเป็นที่สุด มีอันกำจัดโทสะเป็นที่สุด มีอันกำจัดโมหะเป็นที่สุด ฯลฯ ย่อมเจริญสัมมาสมาธิ มีอันกำจัดราคะเป็นที่สุด มีอันกำจัดโทสะเป็นที่สุด มีอันกำจัดโมหะเป็นที่สุด ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุควรเจริญอริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ นี้ เพื่อรู้ยิ่งซึ่งการแสวงหา ๓ อย่างนี้แล

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุควรเจริญอริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ เพื่อรู้ยิ่งซึ่งการแสวงหา ๓ อย่างนี้แล อริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ เป็นไฉน? ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุในธรรมวินัยนี้ ย่อมเจริญสัมมาทิฏฐิอันหยั่งลงสู่อมตะ มีอมตะเป็นเบื้องหน้า มีอมตะเป็นที่สุด ฯลฯ ย่อมเจริญสัมมาสมาธิ อันหยั่งลงสู่อมตะ มีอมตะเป็นเบื้องหน้า มีอมตะเป็นที่สุด ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุควรเจริญอริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ นี้ เพื่อรู้ยิ่งซึ่งการแสวงหา ๓ อย่างนี้แล.

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุควรเจริญอริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ เพื่อรู้ยิ่งซึ่งการแสวงหา ๓ อย่างนี้แล อริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ เป็นไฉน? ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุในธรรมวินัยนี้ ย่อมเจริญสัมมาทิฏฐิอันน้อมไปสู่นิพพาน โน้มไปสู่นิพพาน โอนไปสู่นิพพาน ฯลฯ ย่อมเจริญสัมมาสมาธิ อันน้อมไปสู่นิพพาน โน้มไปสู่นิพพาน โอนไปสู่นิพพาน ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุควรเจริญอริยมรรคอันประกอบด้วยองค์ ๘ นี้ เพื่อรู้ยิ่งซึ่งการแสวงหา ๓ อย่างนี้แล.

It’s when a mendicant develops right view, right purpose, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right immersion, which rely on seclusion, fading away, and cessation, and ripen as letting go.
