ผู้ใดประพฤติล่วงธรรม เพราะความรัก ความชัง ความหลง
ความกลัว ยศของผู้นั้นย่อมเสื่อม เหมือนพระจันทร์ข้างแรม
ฉะนั้น ฯ
ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย การไม่ถึงอคติ ๔ ประการนี้ ๔ ประการเป็นไฉน บุคคลย่อมไม่ถึง ฉันทาคติ ย่อมไม่ถึงโทสาคติ ย่อมไม่ถึงโมหาคติ ย่อมไม่ถึงภยาคติ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย การไม่ถึง อคติ ๔ ประการนี้แล ฯ
ผู้ใดไม่ประพฤติล่วงธรรม เพราะความรัก ความชัง
ความหลง ความกลัว ยศของผู้นั้น ย่อมเต็มเปี่ยม ดุจ
พระจันทร์ข้างขึ้น ฉะนั้น ฯ

Chandāgatiṁ gacchati, dosāgatiṁ gacchati, mohāgatiṁ gacchati, bhayāgatiṁ gacchati—
Making decisions prejudiced by favoritism, hostility, stupidity, and cowardice.

Imāni kho, bhikkhave, cattāri agatigamanāni.
These are the four ways of making prejudiced decisions.

Nihīyati tassa yaso,
your fame fades away,

kāḷapakkheva candimā.
like the moon in the waning fortnight.

Chandā dosā bhayā mohā,
If you don’t act against the teaching

yo dhammaṁ nātivattati;
out of favoritism, hostility, cowardice, and stupidity,

Āpūrati tassa yaso,
your fame swells,

sukkapakkheva candimā”ti.
like the moon in the waxing fortnight.”
