Dutiyagiñjakāvasathasutta

Ānanda asks the Buddha about the rebirths of several disciples. The Buddha confirms those details, and proposes a way for people to know for themselves by reflecting on the four factors of stream-entry.

ข้อ ๑๔๗๓(ข้อความเบื้องต้นเหมือนคิญชกาวสถสูตรที่ ๑) ครั้นแล้ว ท่านพระอานนท์ ได้ทูลถามพระผู้มีพระภาคว่า ข้าแต่พระองค์ผู้เจริญ ภิกษุชื่ออโสกะมรณภาพแล้ว คติของเธอเป็นอย่างไร สัมปรายภพของเธอเป็นอย่างไร? ภิกษุณีชื่ออโสกามรณภาพแล้ว ฯลฯ อุบาสกชื่ออโสกะกระทำกาละแล้ว ฯลฯ อุบาสิกาชื่ออโสกากระทำกาละแล้ว คติของเขาเป็นอย่างไร สัมปรายภพของเขาเป็นอย่างไร?

ข้อ ๑๔๗๔พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสว่า ดูกรอานนท์ ภิกษุชื่ออโสกะมรณภาพแล้ว กระทำให้แจ้งซึ่งเจโตวิมุติ ปัญญาวิมุติ อันหาอาสวะมิได้ เพราะอาสวะทั้งหลายสิ้นไป ด้วยปัญญาอันยิ่งเอง ในปัจจุบัน เข้าถึงอยู่ ภิกษุณีชื่ออโสกา … อุบาสกชื่ออโสกะ … อุบาสิกาชื่ออโสกา กระทำกาละแล้ว เป็นพระโสดาบัน เพราะสังโยชน์ ๓ สิ้นไป มีความไม่ตกต่ำเป็นธรรมดา เป็นผู้เที่ยงที่จะตรัสรู้ในเบื้องหน้า.

ข้อ ๑๔๗๕ดูกรอานนท์ นี้แลคือ ธรรมปริยายชื่อธรรมาทาส ที่อริยสาวกประกอบแล้ว เมื่อหวังอยู่พึงพยากรณ์ตนด้วยตนเองได้ว่า เรามีนรก กำเนิดสัตว์ดิรัจฉาน ปิตติวิสัย อบาย ทุคติ วินิบาต สิ้นแล้ว เราเป็นพระโสดาบัน มีความไม่ตกต่ำเป็นธรรมดา เป็นผู้เที่ยงที่จะตรัสรู้เป็นเบื้องหน้า.

    Ānanda said to the Buddha:

    “asoko nāma, bhante, bhikkhu kālaṅkato;

    “Sir, the monk named Asoka has passed away.

    tassa kā gati, ko abhisamparāyo?

    Where has he been reborn in his next life?

    The nun named Asokā,

    the layman named Asoka,

    Ayaṁ kho so, ānanda, dhammādāso dhammapariyāyo;

    This is that mirror of the teaching.

    yena samannāgato ariyasāvako ākaṅkhamāno attanāva attānaṁ byākareyya:

    A noble disciple who has this may declare of themselves:

    ‘khīṇanirayomhi khīṇatiracchānayoni khīṇapettivisayo khīṇāpāyaduggativinipāto, sotāpannohamasmi avinipātadhammo niyato sambodhiparāyaṇo’”ti.

    ‘I’ve finished with rebirth in hell, the animal realm, and the ghost realm. I’ve finished with all places of loss, bad places, the underworld. I am a stream-enterer! I’m not liable to be reborn in the underworld, and am assured, destined for awakening.’”
