So long as this body exists there is suffering due to the senses.

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เมื่อมือทั้ง ๒ มี การจับและการวางก็มีเมื่อเท้าทั้ง ๒ มี การก้าวไปและถอยกลับก็มี เมื่อข้อทั้งหลายมี การคู้เข้าและเหยียดออกก็มี เมื่อท้องมี ความหิวและความระหายก็มี ฉันใด ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เมื่อจักษุมีอยู่ สุขและทุกข์อันเป็นภายในย่อมเกิดขึ้น เพราะจักษุสัมผัสเป็นปัจจัย ฯลฯ เมื่อใจมีอยู่ สุขและทุกข์อันเป็นภายในย่อมเกิดขึ้น เพราะมโนสัมผัสเป็นปัจจัย ฉันนั้นเหมือนกัน ฯ
ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เมื่อมือทั้ง ๒ ไม่มี ไม่จับและการวางก็ไม่มีเมื่อเท้าทั้ง ๒ ไม่มี การก้าวไปและถอยกลับก็ไม่มี เมื่อข้อทั้งหลายไม่มี การคู้เข้าและเหยียดออกก็ไม่มี เมื่อท้องไม่มี ความหิวและความระหายก็ไม่มี ฉันใด ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เมื่อจักษุไม่มี สุขและทุกข์อันเป็นภายในไม่เกิดขึ้น เพราะจักษุสัมผัสเป็นปัจจัย ฯลฯ เมื่อใจไม่มี สุขและทุกข์อันเป็นภายในก็ไม่เกิดขึ้น เพราะมโนสัมผัสเป็นปัจจัย ฉันนั้นเหมือนกัน ฯ

“Hatthesu, bhikkhave, sati ādānanikkhepanaṁ hoti;
“Mendicants, when there are hands, there’s picking up and putting down.

pādesu sati abhikkamapaṭikkamo hoti;
When there are feet, there’s coming and going.

pabbesu sati samiñjanapasāraṇaṁ hoti;
When there are joints, there’s contracting and extending.

kucchismiṁ sati jighacchā pipāsā hoti.
When there’s a belly, there’s hunger and thirst.
