ข้อ ๔๘๓ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เพราะเหตุ ๓ ประการ การเจรจาธรรมเป็นไปได้ด้วยดี
เหตุ ๓ ประการเป็นไฉน คือ ผู้แสดงธรรมรู้แจ้งอรรถด้วย รู้แจ้งธรรมด้วย ๑ ผู้ฟังธรรม รู้แจ้งอรรถด้วย รู้แจ้งธรรมด้วย ๑ ผู้แสดงธรรมและผู้ ฟังธรรมทั้งสองฝ่าย รู้แจ้งอรรถด้วย รู้แจ้งธรรมด้วย ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลายเพราะ เหตุ ๓ ประการนี้แล เรื่องราวจึงเป็นไปได้ ฯ

“Tīhi, bhikkhave, ṭhānehi kathā pavattinī hoti.
“In three situations, mendicants, conversation flows.

Katamehi tīhi?
What three?
- 1.3
Yo dhammaṁ deseti so atthappaṭisaṁvedī ca hoti dhammappaṭisaṁvedī ca.
When the teacher understands the meaning and the teaching.
- 1.4
Yo dhammaṁ suṇāti so atthappaṭisaṁvedī ca hoti dhammappaṭisaṁvedī ca.
When the audience understands the meaning and the teaching.
- 1.5
Yo ceva dhammaṁ deseti yo ca dhammaṁ suṇāti ubho atthappaṭisaṁvedino ca honti dhammappaṭisaṁvedino ca.
When both the teacher and the audience understand the meaning and the teaching.
- 1.6
Imehi kho, bhikkhave, tīhi ṭhānehi kathā pavattinī hotī”ti.
These are the three situations in which conversation flows.”
