ข้อ ๒๓๙ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุเจ้าอาวาสประกอบด้วยธรรม ๕ ประการ เหมือนถูก นำมาเก็บไว้ในนรก ๕ ประการเป็นไฉน คือ เป็นผู้ตระหนี่อาวาส ๑ตระหนี่สกุล ๑ ตระหนี่ ลาภ ๑ ตระหนี่วรรณะ ๑ ย่อมยังศรัทธาไทยให้ตกไป ๑ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุเจ้าอาวาส ประกอบด้วยธรรม ๕ ประการ เหมือนถูกนำมาเก็บไว้ในนรก ฯ
ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุเจ้าอาวาสประกอบด้วยธรรม ๕ ประการ เหมือนถูกเชิญมาอยู่ ในสวรรค์ ๕ ประการเป็นไฉน คือ ไม่เป็นผู้ตระหนี่อาวาส ๑ ไม่ตระหนี่สกุล ๑ ไม่ตระหนี่ ลาภ ๑ ไม่ตระหนี่วรรณะ ๑ ไม่ยังศรัทธาไทยให้ตกไป ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุเจ้าอาวาส ประกอบด้วยธรรม ๕ ประการนี้แลเหมือนถูกเชิญมาอยู่ในสวรรค์ ฯ

“Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato āvāsiko bhikkhu yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye.
“Mendicants, a resident mendicant with five qualities is placed in hell as if delivered there.

Katamehi pañcahi?
What five?
- 1.3
Āvāsamaccharī hoti;
They’re stingy regarding monasteries,
- 1.4
kulamaccharī hoti;
families,
- 1.5
lābhamaccharī hoti;
material things,
- 1.6
vaṇṇamaccharī hoti;
and praise.
- 1.7
saddhādeyyaṁ vinipāteti.
And they waste a gift given in faith.
- 1.8
Imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato āvāsiko bhikkhu yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye.
A resident mendicant with these five qualities is placed in hell as if delivered there.

Na āvāsamaccharī hoti;

na lābhamaccharī hoti;

and praise.
